Following a triumph at the Bayerische Staatsoper in Un ballo in maschera, Piotr Beczala returns to the role of Verdi’s lovestruck ruler in the same work at the Wiener Staatsoper. Starring opposite Piotr’s Gustav III will be Krassimira Stoyanova as Amelia and Dmitri Hvorostovsky as Count Ankarström. Nadia Krasteva sings Ulrica, and Hila Fahima is Oscar.

Jesús López-Cobos conducts the revival of Gianfranco de Bosio’s production, with performances on April 19, 23, 26, and 29. April 26’s performance will be streamed online as part of the Staatsoper Live series.

As was announced by the company today, Piotr also looks forward to returning to the Wiener Staatsoper in the 2016-17 season. Next April will also hear him in the role of Gustav III opposite George Petean and Kristin Lewis.
