Next month, Piotr Beczala stars in a new production of Verdi’s Un ballo in maschera, directed by Johannes Erath for the Bayerische Staatsoper. Praised by the New York Times for his turn in the role at the Metropolitan Opera last year for an “ardent voice [that] was up to the challenge of…a demanding role,” Piotr reprises the lovestruck monarch March 6 through April 1.

At the Staatsoper, Piotr stars opposite George Petean as Renato and Anja Harteros as Amelia with Okka von der Damerau as Ulrica and Sofia Fomina as Oscar. Zubin Mehta conducts the performances, which includes a webcast on Staatsoper.TV on March 18.
