Piotr Beczala’s spring season launches with a new Un ballo in maschera at the Bayerische Staatsoper. As the lovestruck Riccardo, Piotr stars opposite George Petean as Renato and Anja Harteros as Amelia, with Zubin Mehta at the podium and Johannes Erath helming the new production. Performances take place March 6 through April 1, with a webcast on March 18. Riccardo is also the vehicle for Piotr’s return to the Wiener Staatsoper, April 19 through 29, with a webcast from Vienna on April 26.

In between performances of Ballo in Munich and Vienna, Piotr gives a recital at the Musikverein Wien on April 8, with further recitals in June at the Landestheater Linz (June 4), Konzerthaus Dortmund (June 7), and Milan’s Teatro alla Scala (June 12).

This spring for Piotr is also marked by his first Wagner role when he headlines Lohengrin at the Dresden Semperoper May 19 through 29. Christine Mielitz’s production, conducted by Christian Thielemann, reunites Piotr with Anna Netrebko, also making her Wagner debut as Elsa.
