This week, following a return to Landestheater Linz and debut at Konzerthaus Dortmund, Piotr Beczala gives a concert in Vienna and recital in Milan.

The star tenor returns to Burgtheater Wien for the 5th annual Red Ribbon Celebration Concert on June 10. Presented as part of the Life Ball, which seeks to raise awareness and funds for the fight against AIDS, the starry gala will hear Piotr in a lineup that also includes Anna Netrebko, Yusif Eyvazov, Thomas Hampson, and Dionne Warwick. Proceeds benefit  a number of initiatives including the Clinton Health Access Initiative, the Charlize Theron African Outreach Project, and amfAR.

Two days later on June 12, Piotr returns to the stage of Milan’s Teatro alla Scala to reprise his recital program. Reuniting with Sarah Tysman at the keyboard, the evening’s program will include works by Schumann, Karlowicz, Dvorak, and Rachmaninoff.

Of this week’s performance of the same repertoire in Dortmund, Ruhr Nachrichten wrote: “Und vor allem singt kaum jemand so textverständlich wie er.” Following this weekend’s recital in Linz, Oberösterreichische Nachrichten raved, “Das Publikum dankte mit frenetischem Applaus, Bravorufen, stehenden Ovationen – und die umjubelten Künstler waren in Geberlaune! Aber selbst nach der fünften Zugabe entließ man Beczala/Tysman nur ungern.”
