October finds Piotr Beczala back in California, starring in a new production of Lucia di Lammermoor for San Francisco Opera. In his much-acclaimed account of Edgardo, Piotr stars opposite Nadine Sierra as Donizetti’s titular heroine. Brian Mulligan sings Enrico with Nicolas Testé as Raimondo. Nicola Luisotti conducts Michael Cavanagh’s production.

Of his 2008 performance of Edgardo at the Metropolitan Opera, the New York Times compared Piotr Neil Shicoff and praised him for “impassioned singing [that] had poignant colorings and virile intensity, that ping that opera buffs call squillo.”

Performances at San Francisco Opera take place October 8, 11, 13, 16, 21, 24, and 28.
