On August 15, 18, and 22, Piotr Beczala takes on the title role of Massenet’s Werther in three concert performances with the Salzburg Festival. As the lovesick poet, Piotr stars opposite Angela Gheorghiu as the object of his affections, Charlotte, and Daniel Schmutzhard as her betrothed, Albert. Rounding out the cast is Elena Tsallagova as Sophie. Alejo Pérez conducts the three concert performances, with the final showing on August 22 scheduled for broadcast by ORF on the Ö1 channel.
