Piotr Beczala’s first performances of 2016 can be heard in Paris January 20 through February 4. The leading tenor returns to the Opéra National de Paris to headline the company’s revival of Werther at the Opéra Bastille. Directed by Benoît Jacquot and conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti, Massenet’s romantic tragedy hears Piotr as the eponymous poet, opposite Elina Garanca as Charlotte, Elena Tsallagova as Sophie, and Stéphane Degout as Albert. A radio broadcast of the performance will be shared at a later date on France Musique.
